Three Early Signs Of Bowel (Colorectal) Cancer

In this article based on the facts from a reputable health site Healthline. We’ll be discussing the early signs of colorectal cancers that shouldn’t be ignored.

Bowel cancer also known as colorectal cancer, develops when cells in the wall of the large bowel grow in an abnormal and uncontrolled way. Bowel cancer can occur anywhere along the large bowel, which includes the large intestine, rectum and anal canal.

Colorectal cancer typically affects older adults, though it can happen at any age. It usually begins as small, noncancerous (benign) clumps of cells called polyps that form on the inside of the colon. Over time some of these polyps can become colorectal cancers.

Signs Of Colorectal Cancer

(a) Blood In Stool: blood in the stools without other haemorrhoid symptoms, such as soreness, discomfort, pain, itching or a lump hanging down outside the back passage.

(b) A persistent change in your bowel habits, including diarrhea or constipation or a change in the consistency of your stool.

(c) Fatigue: Fatigue is the most common and least definitive of symptoms associated with colon cancer. Fatigue can happen if polyps or tumors bleed into the digestive tract, leading to a loss of iron over time and possibly iron-deficiency anemia.

When To Get Screened For Colorectal Cancer

Colorectal cancer is one of the most treatable cancers, but the only way to detect it is through screening. If you have any conditions that affect the gastrointestinal (GI) tract, such as irritable bowel disease, ulcerative colitis or Crohn’s disease, talk with your doctor or a GI specialist to determine when and how often you should be screened.
